Germs & Picnics

We have some sickly kids around here.
Well, they aren't at school,
they are at home with a fever and a cough.
And so it begins.

I thought I had better get on the ball
and do a little lesson on GERMS.
Maybe it would help keep down the sickness
if I really put a lot of emphasis on it.
Maybe?

I feel like we TALK about it all the time.
"Don't put your fingers in your mouth."
"Don't chew on that toy."
"Cover your mouth when you cough!"
Blah, Blah, Blah.

I found our GERM book.
It is super cute.
The germs look like little monsters
and the whole book rhymes.

Then I found a couple of cute videos on youtube for
them to watch about germs and washing our hands.

(I really need to get a cord that adapts my laptop to my TV)

Then we practiced washing our hands...
CORRECTLY!

We sang "Happy Birthday"
as we did it.
Did you know that you should wash your hands for
20 seconds?
That is why we sang Happy Birthday.

We then colored a picture about washing our hands.

I gave the kids their dry erase boards
as their "desks".
I wanted to try doing our coloring this way.

I was hoping it would make them ENJOY coloring.
Not so much.
This little group isn't a fan.
I am wondering if it is because it is
8 boys to 2 girls?

Who knows.
But it didn't really make them want to color
anymore than normal.
lol.
Figures.
It was worth the try.

I just love their little hands and the seriousness
on their little faces when they are working.
Adorable!

Misti took some shots of her little ones outside
while we were doing our work:
Miss Brooklyn..
Mr. Eli:
Miss Emmalyn:
Miss Tayleigh:
They played hard today!

To round out a great morning,
we had a PICNIC!
We just love picnics around here!

We had ham & cheese sandwiches on wheat bread,
Doritos, oranges, and broccoli with ranch dressing.
Perfect picnic food!

Yummy in my tummy.

Sweeties.

Big Boy Table.

And, no, not a whole lot ate their broccoli either.
Oh well.
I try.
;)

We hope your day was WONDERFUL!
Ours sure was!

Friday! Fun Day!

We had a fun day here at Giggles & Grins!

Dare I say it?
It was a little chilly today.

So nice to play in though.

We hope your weekend is wonderful!

She's Back!

Guess who came to visit today!
MRS YVONNE!
Woo hoo!
To say that the kids were excited to see her
would be an understatement!

And they all listened so well.
She read 2 short books about the "magic" words
PLEASE and THANK YOU.
Music to our ears, right?

We love her!
And I am pretty sure she loves us!

Outside time was eventful today.
For some reason several of the kids
wanted their picture snapped.

Well, Brooklyn not so much.
She couldn't decide if she wanted to nap or play.
She was having a hard time deciding-
but the kids kept her company on her blanket outside.

Gavin going down the big boy slide:

William, Cadyn, Emmalyn, and Vivi love it outside.
I am honestly surprised William isn't covered in dirt.
lol.
He LOVES to play in the dirt.
I don't hear a peep out of him until it is time to come in.
He digs and he hauls and he digs some more.
No wonder he CRASHES at nap!
Sweet kiddos.

Emmalyn says CHEEEEEESE!
I just LOVE her cheeks!

Vivi kept yelling "MS MELEA! MS MELEA! TAKE MY
PICTURE! MS MELEA!"

She was showing me her "trick".

Grady gave me a "very special rock".
It seriously was a neat little rock.
Thanks Grady!

Funny story:
I cleaned Eli up to put him to bed after lunch.
I sat him down so he could walk to the bedroom,
then went to follow in behind him.
I couldn't find him!
Where was he?
With brother on his mat!
He had his little hands behind his head too.
I missed that kodak moment.
But still, too cute!
Evan was covering him up.
So sweet.
Brotherly love.
I am so sure it is ALWAYS like this at home!
Lol.

We had a special delivery yesterday afternoon!
OUR BOOKS!
These are the books from our monthly book order!

We love to see this box come.
Its like Christmas!
Thank you for your orders!
We had points and free book vouchers
where I could order this neat
video for FREE!
Thank you x a million!

I had to share this photo:
They were holding on to their trucks for dear life,
but were watching Higgley Town Heroes.
They could NOT stop watching!
Not even to let me get their picture!
Which is why they all have that CHEESY fake smile as
they have their eyes GLUED to the TV.
Hmph.
I have a husband that does the SAME thing.
lol.

Have a blessed day!

Remembering....

I think when anyone mentions
the date, September 11th, our minds
automatically go to where we were
the day the towers were hit.

I wanted to make sure and acknowledge today.
Not knowing for sure how to a group
of 3, 4 and 5 year olds.

I found a neat little cartoon video that actually
gave that day's events in a kid like way.
So, if they come home with lots of questions,
that is why.

I made sure and focused on the bright aspect of it,
if you even can.
I told them that we are safe and we live in
the greatest country on earth.
We are safe because of our soldiers that fight
for our safety.

How lucky are we?
Knowing soldiers, personally,
that fought for our country......
for us,
is hard for me to wrap MY head around,
much less a 3 or 4 year old.
Why would someone do that for US?

I just encouraged them to know that
there are people that love us and our country
that have never even met us.
Very brave people.
We should be super thankful for those people.
We said a prayer thanking God for
our troops and their safety and thanking
God for our country.
We also prayed for the families that were
effected by that day.
Maybe you should do the same?

After our little video,
we colored some special pages that
we are going to send to some special troops
to brighten their day.
The kids were super excited about that!

I am sure all of you are being reminded today.
In the midst of it,
try and remember that God has a plan
for all of us and our country.
Remember that His plan starts with
your VOTE this election.
Your vote is crucial to our future as a country.
Whichever way you vote,
JUST GO VOTE!

Each vote counts.

"For I know the plans I have for you,"
 declares the Lord,
"plans to prosper you and not to harm you,
plans to give you hope and a future"
Jeremiah 29:11

Yay for Monday!

What a wonderful day!
We started out with a little review of our squares:

We then had some art time outside!
That was super fun!

Something a little different to break up the day.

Gavin decided to join them!

If you are looking for Miss Adria,
she is probably in the dirt!
Lol.

She was grabbing her wagon to take back to the dirt.
I love it.
A sweet mixture of dirt and pretty.
Watch out when she is 16!
lol.

Look at this bunch!
Let me tell ya,
this is trouble!
X 4!
haha!
No, they are super sweet.

We are LOVING today's weather!

And this little girl was snoozing while I was snapping
pics, so I found a sweet one from the archives:

Here are a few pictures from last week:

Ms Misti built her kids a tent during the rain.
They loved every minute of it!

Vivi grabbed the coloring books and crayons
during the rainy weather...

Hudson and Becket built a big train track:

Mattie built the world's tallest tower!

I hope your weekend was great!
I heard about the kids' weekend.
Lots of horse stories!
I told them I was afraid of horses....and cows.
This girl is not much of an animal lover.
Sorry.

Did anyone else see this BEAUTIFUL cloud
on Friday afternoon?
It was so pretty.
It didn't even look real?
Crazy.

Have a blessed week!

With Love,
Ms Melea
