I Choose Happy.

Another beautiful day.
Thankful for the weather.
I couldn't stand the thought of being inside
knowing this time next week will be chilly again!
So we did our handwriting on the concrete!
I told the kids to fill up the patio with
as many L's as they could!
Fun.

On another note:
I don't watch the news.
There are many reasons why I don't,
the main one being that the news is mostly
ugly, depressing, and scary.
I choose happy.

I didn't escape the news about the sweet girl, Hailey,
from Springfield, though.
I honestly do not know many of the details,
because I choose not to,
but I do know that it scares me.

All this made me talk to the kiddos today about strangers.
I stayed up late last night researching the best
ways to teach on this subject.
I didn't want to scare the kids,
but then again, I want them to be smart
and educated if something were to ever happen.
I kept it simple and I asked them a lot of
What should you do?
Should you do this?
Where should you go?
Who should you go to?
We even did some role playing.
The lesson was short and sweet,
but I feel they all were on board.
Thankfully all of them had heard
of strangers from their moms and dads,
which made the topic a lot less scary.

You  might ask them about it tonight
and add your own family's thoughts
on the subject.

We shouldn't live in fear.
God tells us not to.
Fear is the opposite of faith.
You cannot have faith if you are afraid.
We should arm ourselves with knowledge
and awareness, and most importantly,
arm ourselves with faith in our God.

This reminds me of two of my favorite verses
that I go to frequently:

With Love, Mrs Melea
