PICNIC!
What a BEAUTIFUL day! We took full advantage of the beautiful weather and had a picnic outside! As a reward for behaving while Ms Yvonne taught us our weekly manners- Kathy and I pulled the tables and chairs outside to serve the kids lunch! We had hot dogs, Lays wavy potato chips, "purple" grapes, and cucumbers with ranch dressing! We had a little time after lunch, so we played a little more before settling in for our nap. We watched a little of the Jungle Book before dozing off!

The letter V
We are learning about the letter V this week! We did our usual sound and letter recognition worksheet. The kids did much better on their coloring today! I guess my motto of "Work then Play" has set in! You cant go outside and play until your work is done! This makes them focus a little more!:)
We had pop tarts with banana for breakfast, grilled cheese sandwiches and cheetos with some carrot sticks and ranch dressing and green grapes for lunch, and will have strawberry yogurt with graham crackers for snack!

Happy to be GREEN!
We are so proud to say that we are making extra efforts to GO GREEN this year! In honor of Earth Day 2010- we decided to plant a garden! With the wonderful help of Jossie and Sierra's grandpa, Carl Taylor! He came and dug up the dirt to start our garden! The kids will be big helpers in maintaining the garden- plus they get to learn about how the plants will grow- plus- we get to eat the YUMMY food!
This is our Earth Day project! We planted flower seeds into our RECYCLED veggie cans. We took dirt straight from our freshly tilled garden and the kids planted them ALL by theirselves! We talked about how important it is to keep our planet healthy. We read a book about being green and the kids responded so well to it!

Did you know that Giggles & Grins has been "GREEN" for awhile, now? We do lots of things to help our environment. We very seldom use paper towels or paper plates to eat, we use reusable towels to dry and wash ourselves, we recycle all of our plastics and cans, and we teachers do these things at our homes as well! I challenge you to do more for our earth- start today!
I found a really neat quote yesterday and actually posted it on my Facebook page. I wanted to share it with you today:
"Only when the last tree had died and the last river has been poisoned and the last fish killed will we realize that we cannot eat money"~Cree Indian
That quote really hit me. I hope it inspires you to help save our planet- not for us- but for these kids and their kids.

A Broken Record.....
Please remember to bring donations for the yard sale! We are hoping to get picnic tables for the playground! We want to do our work outside and have picnics as much as possible! We need to raise around $300! Anything extra will go towards outside toys and activities!
I am beginning to KNOW that I sound like a broken record! "Love eachother." "Be nice." "Get along." "DO NOT FIGHT!" If you are wondering why we had no work today- it's because we had, yet another, lesson on fighting- or NOT fighting! We should know this book by heart! haha!
Although we are learning about the letter U- we are also gonna be talking about Earth Day for the next few days. We will be doing some cool crafts and activities so that the kids can learn more about taking care of our planet!

T is for TEETH!
Today Ms Yvonne came for her weekly manners lesson! We performed our graduation songs for her! One is about manners and she loved it! I hope the kids are practicing our new songs at home!
We also talked about TEETH today! And how very important it is that we brush our teeth twice a day! We read "The Tooth Book" which talked about all the different places and things that actually have teeth and the animals that dont have teeth. It also talked about caring for your teeth! For our lesson- I gave the kids a copy of a big smile- but with YELLOW teeth! Yuck! We took "toothbrushes (paintbrush) and toothpaste (white paint) and brushed our teeth until they were beautiful and white!
We had waffles and syrup for breakfast, hot dogs, cheetohs, green beans, and mangos and pineapple for lunch, and we will have cake for snack- since it's Jayden's birthday!!!
Happy Birthday Jayden! Its hard to believe you are 2!!!!!
Our 2 year old class had some fun of their own today! Ms Kathy helped them make TURTLES for the letter T! They were so cute making them! We love to make crafts around here!
What a great week so far! We are so thankful for God's blessings and we hope the rest of your week is just as wonderful!!

T is for Turtle!
T is for Turtle! We had a lot of fun making these little critters! We read the book Franklin in the Dark- which is about a little turtle who is afraid to go in his own shell. The kids learned that EVERYONE is afraid of SOMETHING- even us parents! It is our job to be BRAVE and face our fears!
We had cheerios and banana for breakfast, soft beef tacos, spanish rice, corn and salad for lunch, and will have toast and jelly for snack!

T is TERRIFIC!
Today we introduced the letter T! Here is a picture of some of the things I had in my basket that start with the letter T. Tape, tissue, tiger, tea bag, tomato, train, train track, and tootsie rolls!! We did a simple worksheet that recognizes the letter Tt sound!
Today we had a strawberry poptart, banana, and milk for breakfast; Ham and cheese sandwich, Lay's potato chips, carrot sticks with ranch dressing, and green grapes for lunch, and we will have strawberry yogurt with graham crackers for snack!
We had to put on SUNBLOCK for free time today! WOW! It was so nice- it even got a little hot sitting in the sun! I am not complaining! We love it!
We hope your day has been as good as ours!
Remember the garage sale on May 13th and 14th! We need stuff!! We could also use bake goods to sale also! Graduation is Saturday, May 29th!!!!

Writing, Writing, and MORE Writing!
Thursdays and Fridays are our writing days! I bring each child up individually and we work on our handwriting skills. Just one on one- me and them. It takes a little extra time- but it is so worth it! The kids not only need the one on one attention- but they are more attentive and want to do it correctly! D'jini has beautiful handwriting! She always has a pencil and a pad of paper in her hands! You can tell that her practice pays off by the picture above! Good job D'jini!
Yesterday we had cereal for breakfast, spaghetti for lunch, and a cookie for snack. Today we had pancakes for breakfast, pizza for lunch, and oreos for snack. We usually don't have that many cookies in one week- much less 2 days in a row! Oh well- sometimes it just works out that way!
We are so enjoying the sunshine! Thank the Lord for bringing it to us!
Please remember the preschool yard sale May 13th & 14th and preschool graduation is May 29th!
Thanks again for being wonderful parents! We love and appreciate you!

We even made our very own sea turtles!

We are loving this weather! Don't forget to get your garage sale stuff together for the fund raiser! We want to buy picnic tables for the playground so that we can have picnics and do our work outside!!

S is for Sun!
What a beautiful day today! The kids are in much better humor today than yesterday! I think the Easter weekend wore them out!
We officially started practicing our new songs for the preschool graduation today (which is Saturday, May 29th- more info to come)!! The kids seem to love them! I hope they can practice for you!
We had blueberry muffins for breakfast, grilled cheese sandwiches, cheetohs, carrot sticks and green grapes for lunch, and will have vanilla wafers with a banana and milk to drink for snack!
We enjoyed being outside most of the day- we are filthy! Remember: if we come home clean- we didnt have fun at preschool today! We got a little dirty with some yellow paint- painting our suns! Sorry if there is yellow paint somewhere it shouldn't be!
Carroll County newspaper's journalist, Mike Ellis, brought us a wonderful surprise this afternoon! The paper did a full spread on our very own Ms Yvonne! She is on the front page of the Golden Years addition to the Tuesday paper! Photographed along with her are Scott, Sierra, Jossie, and Hali! Congratulations guys!
Thank you for being so great! We love your kiddos! Check back tomorrow for the daily info!
